1905 Shingle Style Exterior
After removing oversized asbestos from this circa 1905 Shingle Style home, we discovered a charming shingle pattern in need of repair and restoration of some previously removed trim work. In replacing these missing pieces, we looked to the existing original details. For instance, the window boxes with their intact beam ends suggested similar details over the entryway columns. Because the shingle style is fairly simple, we designed an unfussy color palette that lets it shine through.
The back sleeping porch of this home had been distorted by multiple remodels. We added trim banding to unify the upper row of windows and a belly band to unify the lower-story windows. Evening the heights of the left and right porches allowed for a single line across the house and further broke the second floor out so it appears as a distinct sleeping porch.
