Jim Pentz brings many years of residential and commercial land development experience to the Oregon coast. Jim and Joylee Pentz have a personal connection to coastal Oregon. Joylee grew up just 30 minutes from Manzanita, and the couple has owned real estate in Manzanita dating back 25 years.
Their love of the Oregon seaside inspired them to create a residential development that is as unique as the coastal landscape itself – a one-of-a-kind “pocket neighborhood” development in Manzanita. Ross Chapin Architects is an architectural and planning firm based on Puget Sound’s Whidbey Island since 1982. Along with environmental stewardship, they are dedicated to creating environments that nourish the individual, support positive family relationships, and foster a strong sense of community.
The team at RCA has successfully collaborated with developers and city planners to create innovative housing and neighborhood prototypes that have earned consistent national recognition and major awards. Ross Chapin, FAIA
Principal Architect
Ross Chapin, FAIA, is the founder and Principal Architect of RCA. He is active in his home community of Langley, WA, where he championed the innovative “cottage housing” code that has been used as a model across the country. Through his work at RCA and as a joint development partner, he has developed a comprehensive understanding of the subtle and vital connection between authentic design and place that nourish the individual and community. Mr. Chapin’s book, Pocket Neighborhoods: Creating Small Scale Community in a Large Scale World (Taunton Press), is garnering wide acclaim, including a full-page review in USA Today, and listing on Wall Street Journal’s Top Ten House & Home Books and Planetizen’s Top Ten Planning & Design Books of 2012. He was recently invested into the American Institute of Architect’s College of Fellows, an honor awarded to architects who have made significant contributions to society and the profession. Mr. Chapin shares his knowledge widely, with talks and workshops at conferences, universities and professional forums, media interviews and writing.
Karen DeLucas, Associate AIA
Project Manager
Karen DeLucas has sixteen years of experience in residential architecture, nine of which has been with Ross Chapin Architects. As project manager, she has been intimately involved with all stages of design and construction on the award winning Conover Commons and Danielson Grove projects as well as all of RCA’s current ‘pocket neighborhood’ projects. Her innate ability to analyze and critically assess problems and to find creative solutions has been invaluable to the firm. She brings a sensitive eye for detail to every project as well as the ability to hold on to the big picture. Her passion is creating spaces that both foster community and enrich the individual experience.
The Kamali Sotheby’s Real Estate Team
 Farzahn founded Kamali & Company, Inc. in Cannon Beach in 2006, after owning and operating an independent real estate brokerage in the San Francisco Bay Area for 5+ years. In Spring of 2011 he affiliated with Sotheby’s International Realty, and in that same year expanded into the Manzanita and Gearhart markets. The company is now uniquely positioned in the three primary resort destination markets on the Oregon Coast, and through the Sotheby’s marketing channels the offices are able to network with a breadth unparalleled on the North Coast.
Farzahn is a licensed real estate broker in Oregon and California, and is a licensed Architect in the State of Oregon. He graduated from the University of Oregon in 1995 with a professional degree in Architecture, and worked in the profession for many years in Portland prior to his move to the Bay Area. He currently resides in Cannon Beach with his wife and three daughters.
Reet Vaga of Kamali Sotheby’s International Real Estate
Reet, who lives in Manzanita, is known as a consummate professional who is also extremely thorough. “I am good at walking buyers through the process and providing them with all of the resources they need to bring a transaction to a successful conclusion,” she says.
